Steve Prohm is an American college basketball coach who is currently the head coach of the Iowa State Cyclones men's basketball team. He was born on July 1, 1974, in Vienna, West Virginia.
Prohm began his coaching career as an assistant coach at the University of Cental Florida and Southeastern Louisiana University before working as an assistant coach under Billy Kennedy at Murray State University. He was promoted to head coach at Murray State in 2011 and led the Racers to a 104-29 record over four seasons, including two NCAA Tournament appearances.
In 2015, Prohm was hired as the head coach at Iowa State, where he has continued to have success, making multiple NCAA Tournament appearances and winning the Big 12 Conference Tournament in 2017.
Prohm is known for his up-tempo style of play and his ability to develop players and build successful teams. He has been recognized for his coaching abilities and has been named Coach of the Year in both the Ohio Valley Conference and the Big 12 Conference.
